For this week’s #NeighborhoodSpotlight, join us as we meet with Benjy Mason, the owner of Johnny’s Gold Brick, a cocktail bar in the Heights. Johnny’s opened back in 2015 after they took over the building for the old wine bar, Boom Boom Room, that was at that location. Since then, it’s been a hit.

Johnny’s Gold Brick is known for being a place Houstonians can go to grab an amazing classic cocktail as well as experience something completely new that’s been crafted by their expert mixologists. They’ve even competed in competitions against other bars around the country and proven that they know their way around a cocktail. In 2019, they won the Bar Fight Club throw-down against six other bars with a clever cocktail named Corn Palace.
