For this week’s #NeighborhoodSpotlight, join us as we meet with David Chin, the owner of The Yellow Cup. They’ve been around for about two and a half years and have been a great place for people to escape the hustle and bustle of the world even if for just a moment and enjoy a coffee.
At the Yellow Cup, their focus is to connect people with amazing and high quality coffee. Their house blend of bean is provided by WestBean Coffee Roasters in San Diego California and they also reserve a spot for local guest roasters so that people can taste great coffee from Houston as well. If you’re not a coffee drinker, they also offer a line of teas from Bellocq Tea Atlier which have each been carefully selected and assembled by hand. All of the products they offer are the highest of quality and selected with the utmost of care to ensure that every customer gets a fantastic product and a great experience.
For this week’s #NeighborhoodSpotlight, join us as we meet with Benjy Mason, the owner of Johnny’s Gold Brick, a cocktail bar in the Heights. Johnny’s opened back in 2015 after they took over the building for the old wine bar, Boom Boom Room, that was at that location. Since then, it’s been a hit.
Johnny’s Gold Brick is known for being a place Houstonians can go to grab an amazing classic cocktail as well as experience something completely new that’s been crafted by their expert mixologists. They’ve even competed in competitions against other bars around the country and proven that they know their way around a cocktail. In 2019, they won the Bar Fight Club throw-down against six other bars with a clever cocktail named Corn Palace.
For this week’s #NeighborhoodSpotlight, join us as we meet with Renee Ybarra, the bar manager of Voodoo Queen Daiquiri Dive. Voodoo Queen originally started out as a local dive bar, but due to a renovation they experienced in 2018, they have since re-emerged as a New Orleans/pirate inspired spot with daiquiris, rum drinks, and great food.
Voodoo Queen has come to be known for their strong daiquiris and specifically their amazing chicken tenders. The daquiris come in a variety of flavors and even come in hand blended options that include fresh fruit and ingredients. They are constantly running food and drink specials that vary from specially priced shots to 75 cent chicken tenders. You’ll just have to go in to check and see what they got going on every day!
