Neighborhood Spotlight: Seaside Poke

If you follow our Instagram @movemetotx, you know Seaside Poke is a staple in our daily diet. Located in EaDo’s East Village, Seaside features fresh and sustainably caught fish and produce from local Texas farms.

What is Poke? Seaside describes poke as “a raw fish salad that is offered in Hawaiian cuisine. The word poke is the hawaiian verb for “section” or “to slice or cut”. Traditional poke is made with ahi tuna, soy sauce, green onions, sesame oil, onions and sesame seeds. Although this dish was typically served as an appetizer in the states, over time, the dish has evolved into a main course where individuals have not only incorporated different types of fish such as salmon and albacore, but also incorporated a variety of different toppings such as avocado and seaweed salad.”

Seaside has a menu of “stock” bowls with suggested protein, toppings, and sauces, but you can also “build your own” bowl with your choices!  They offer a “Regular” and “Large” bowl with a wide array of sauces, toppings, textures, and oils. Whenever you’re ready to try it out, let us know, we’d love to grab a bowl!

Real Estate Tips: Interview Multiple Agents

We recently posted an Instagram story about interviewing multiple agents when looking to buy or sell real estate and were surprised at the amount of comments we received on this topic!

We wanted to share a few questions to ask when interviewing an agent to help get you started:

  • How long have you been a REALTOR®?
  • How long have you represented sellers (or buyers)
  • Are you a Full-Time agent?
  • What are your areas of specialized knowledge?
  • How do you plan on marketing my home?
  • What is your online marketing strategy?
  • How will you assist me at each stage of the transaction?
  • What type of written agreement do you have that details our obligations to each other?
  • What type of guarantees do you offer? How long is a listing (or representation agreement)?

Neighborhood Spotlight: Tout Suite

Open Daily, Tout Suite describes themselves as “a collaborative outcome of world travels to create an exciting, lively cafe where one can enjoy simple, fine foods, baked goods, great coffee and a place to get some work done.”

Come hungry, as the food and the baked goods are both very tasty!  Tout Suite is a great place to grab a meal with a friend, catch up on work, or grab a quick cup of coffee on the way to work.  The restaurant is pretty big with lots of tables, but if you’re coming during “meal time” hours (ie: lunch time, brunch) things tend to fill up pretty quickly!

The pizza and pasta (and everything else) at this Heights hot spot are on point. The restaurant opens at 5 PM nightly (except Tuesdays… they’re closed), and has ample seating inside, at the bar, and in the garden/patio area.

Pro tip: arrive early, or be prepared to wait, they don’t take reservations, but will text you when your table’s ready.
