Korean Fried Chicken with a Unique Twist #NeighborhoodSpotlight #movemetotx

Houston has a lot of Asian cuisine but one culture that doesn’t have as much representation as the others is Korean. This restaurant is determined to help change that. For this week’s #NeighborhoodSpotlight, join us as we talk to Jason Cho, the owner of Dak & Bop.

Dak & Bop originally opened back in 2014 with a different location over in the Houston Museum district. Since then, that location has closed and a new concept within the Dak & Bop brand was born and is housed on West 18th Street in the Houston Heights. The idea behind this location is a chef driven menu with an elevated gastropub feel. They take traditional dishes and give them a unique spin with their ingredients and presentation. There is also a distinct Italian influence on their menu at this particular location.

Japanese Kitchen with a Seasonally Rotating Menu, Houston, #NeighborhoodSpotlight #movemetotx

This next spot blends Japanese techniques with Houston flavors and ingredients to deliver a unique and delicious experience. For this week’s #NeighborhoodSpotlight, join us as we talk to Naoki Yoshida, the owner and chef behind Shun Japanese Kitchen.

Shun Japanese Kitchen opened its doors in Houston back in 2018. Their goal is to really explore new realms of Japanese cuisine through the eyes of, in their words, “2nd Generation Japanese-American.” They have the mindset of a Japanese Kitchen but have a mix of new and unique flavors and foods that they incorporate into their menu. Even their dining room reflects their theme of traditional meets modern with an eclectic mix of traditional Japanese décor and pops of modern graffiti.

For more information on Shun or to check out their menu, you can visit them online at https://www.shunkitchen.com/
