It’s that time of year again – Houston Restaurant Weeks! Although there are a few differences due to COVID-19, HRW is still providing diners with an opportunity to try new restaurants while also benefiting the Houston Food Bank. Spanning the entire month of August (and into September), Houston Restaurant Weeks is one of the largest annual fundraisers for the Houston Food Bank. It was originally founded by Cleverly Stone in 2003. For each meal purchased, restaurants will donate $1 to the Food Bank, which generates 3 meals for Houstonians.
The list of restaurants can sometimes look long and it can be hard to know where to start, so we want to share some of our team’s favorite restaurants!
Katie Day Favorites:
Rainbow Lodge: The Gumbo is fantastic and ALL the desserts are so tasty!
Batanga: Tapas may be one of my favorite “meals” – so it’s hard to choose a “favorite” dish. I’d recommend ordering the HRW menu and adding on some extra dishes!
Mastranos: I recommend getting anything pasta. They make it in house so it’s super fresh and a must try!
Ryan Steer Favorites:
Kin Dee Thai : Try the pad thai!
Brennan’s of Houston : Don’t forget dessert, the bread pudding is fantastic
Nikki Graham Favorites:
Maison Pucha Bistro : Duck A L’Orange or any of the desserts are must trys.
Shari Bingham Favorites:
Back Street Cafe: My favorite dish is the Texas Gulf Shrimp & Stone Ground Cheese Grits
Coltivare: Try the Cauliflower, Pine Nuts, & Raisins Dish and the Chicken Wings
Sarah Stokes Favorites:
The Melting Pot: Be sure to try the Classic Alpine fondue and Original Chocolate fondue!
El Big Bad: Try the steak fajitas!
There are SO many great restaurants on the Houston Restaurant Weeks list – and many more are being added! Select restaurants are offering both dine-in and to-go service, so be sure to check to see if reservations are required, if walk-in’s are welcome, or if they are doing to-go food for HRW.
