For this week’s #NeighborhoodSpotlight, join us as we meet with Marivel Gomez and Sharon Haynes, the chef and partner and the founder respectively of Tacos a Go Go. The first location opened back in 2006 as a way to fill the need for a tex-mex restaurant but with a taco spin.

A specialty dish that is recommended by the chef is the breakfast taco with the guisada. They also offer a wide variety of other dishes such as quesadillas, tamales, and nachos. On top of that, they also have a range of specialty drinks that they offer.

They are a Houston local brand and they are constantly looking to expand and open now locations throughout the city.

Non-Profit Coffee Shop Fighting Human Trafficking, Houston Heights, #movemetotx

For this week’s #NeighborhoodSpotlight, join us as we meet with Erica Raggett, the founder and executive director of A 2nd Cup. A 2nd Cup, an anti human trafficking coffee shop, was founded in 2011 and their brick and mortar store opened in October of 2015.

They’re known for their large and varying drink menu. Everything is made in house which includes all of their syrups and their sauces. Some signature drinks include the secret squirrel which is amaretto and hazelnut and the mocha nut which is chocolate and coconut. However, what really makes A 2nd Cup unique is the fact that they are a nonprofit. Their focus is to raise awareness about human trafficking and pour all of their resources and earnings back into other initiatives that are actively fighting human trafficking.

For this week’s #NeighborhoodSpotlight, join us as we meet with Chris Caldwell and Marvin Lemond, both Co-owners and Coaches at Feast with Beasts. They started out in 2014, originally going out to train with a friend of theirs that they had played football with back in college.

They’re known for their vast array of unique workouts, ensuring that their clients never have the same workout twice. Their plans for the future at the moment are to continue expanding within the community. They have already expanded their facilities, but they are constantly looking to expand and grow to be able to offer the absolute best to their clients.

La Grange opened up back in 2015 and one of the biggest appeals to Jake was the location of the building. Fantastic Newly Renovated Local Gym, East Downtown Houston, #NeighborhoodSpotlight #movemetotx

For this week’s #NeighborhoodSpotlight, join us as we meet with Lisa Evetts, the manager of EADO Fitness. The gym started back in 2012 in a small garage warehouse that is actually next door to the current location. It began as an exclusively Cross Fit gym with about 30 or 40 members.

Over the years, the offerings at EADO Fitness has expanded greatly and they now include classes such as yoga and bootcamp. During Covid-19, they have been fortunate enough to be able to undergo a complete renovation of the gym. This has also enabled them to add more equipment which means a larger variety of offerings that they will be able to have for their members.

For this week’s #NeighborhoodSpotlight, join us as we meet with Demarco Howard, the owner of The Artz Aerial and Circus studio. They got started back in 2016 in Rosharon, Texas with a dance studio. In 2017, they got the opportunity to purchase their Spring Street studio location and have been there ever since.

They are an aerial arts studio and circus training facility. Their specialties are fabric, trapeze, lyra, any kind of apparatus you might see in the circus! Their focus is primarily on their kids camps, but they continue to grow their adult offerings and classes.

Fantastic Filipino Food in Houston Heights, TX #movemetotx

For this week’s #NeighborhoodSpotlight, join us as we meet with Mark Pascual, the co-owner of Be More Pacific. He and his partner started working together back in 2011. They took on Filipino food because there weren’t any Filipino restaurants in Austin which is where Be More Pacific first originiated. They started as a food truck, then opened their first restaurant in 2017 in Austin, and the Houston location is new having only been open for about a year.

What sets Be More Pacific apart from other restaurants is the way that they focus on making elevated and authentic Filipino cuisine. They are currently operating with dine-in and carry out services.
